Saxmundham station platform 2 was in a poor state of repair and required renewal or major repair. Haydn Evans carried out the detailed design collaborating with the build contractor throughout. Contract award to start on site was six weeks, so in railway terms these timescales were very tight indeed, particularly when accounting for gauge design and associated approval with Network Rail. The work was successfully carried out during a nine day blockade and has resulting in a much improved environment for passengers. The solution comprises GRP panelling on a steelwork frame.
